Pictures from the 5-days-long descent back to Suketar that completed the loop and finished the trek around Kanchenjunga
Here is the high point of Kanchenjunga trek - both literally and as a figure of speech. These pictures are from a day hike from Lhonak to Pangpema (5140 m) and back. This is the only place from the trek where one can see the North Face of Kanchenjunga.
Lakes, forests, lots of open spaces... just Ontario ;-)
Lhonak is situated at the edge of a dry lake near the lateral moraine of Kanchenjunga Glacier - just a few kilometers from the borders with India and Tibet. It is cold and wind-swept and desolate but stunningly beautiful in its own right.
Kambachen (4145 m) is the next stop above Ghunsa towards Kanchenjunga's North base camp. It offers some of the best views of one of the world's most beautiful and difficult to climb mountains - Jannu (7710 m)
My favorite pictures from around Kathmandu. Visiting popular sightseeing destinations like Durbar Square, Bodhnath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur and Patan.

A couple of days spent in Ghunsa - the most important village in the north valley of Kanchenjunga. Snow covered the village after we arrived and completely changed the scenery within a night.
These pictures are from a long day of crossing of a series of passes between Kanchenjunga's south and north valleys. The day begins with a steep ascent and ends with an even steeper descent into the village of Ghunsa. Great views in all directions and lot
This is one of the reasons people do the Kanchenjunga trek! A couple of perfect days at high altitude, lots of sun and snow and big mountains all along the way.
